Rest in peace, Michael J. Jackson.

Today has been an odd day. I didn't work on any of my art today because it's just been too heavy and confusing. I cannot believe that Michael Jackson is dead. It really seems so unreal. He was one of the first musicians that I actually listened to and enjoyed; during the early 90s he was probably my favourite singer. Though, I didn't really keep up with him until he came back around 2001 when I was about 12-13. I did enjoy the new songs he was putting out then; having Brando in that vid was pretty cool.
I can remember when George Harrison died and where I was. Sitting in my room and listening to the radio when they announced it. I wasn't the huge Beatles fan until a few years later when I was 16, but I knew his importance. I'm actually sort of 'glad' I wasn't the big fan then because it would've been a gigantic blow since he is my favourite. Thus I was spared that sort of pain and shock, though it's still painful for me to think of George not being around; but I can imagine it would have felt somewhat like today does with the passing of Michael. It's just unbelievable that he's gone. Just 2 weeks ago I put an order out on one of his albums with his #1's. I wanted to get back into his music again (still do, still will). Lena was planning a portrait of him. I been sitting here listening to his songs trying to think of something to type about him but nothing is really sufficient.
Oddly enough, only a few days ago I heard that commercial again that's on lately that plays Jackson 5/young Michael singing I'll be there and thinking what a great talent he was even then and how beautiful he sounded there. I had the oddest feeling then; I guess it was maybe a sort of premonition.
It doesn't matter to me what kind of negative shit the media has said about him. It makes me sorta angry now that he's gone they play fair. But I'll only ever remember the good things about him and the things he gave to the world.
R.I.P. Michael.

Well another "wip". That picture is actually from a couple days ago...lol I finished up some more of it and worked more on her face. But I'm too lazy to upload the pics so that'll do. Lol I notice we had the same font from Kiss me Kiss me kiss me so I used it.

Almost done with one of two commissions. Should finish by tomorrow. Marilyn should almost be done by then too; Friday if I'm slow. Any longer and I'm just lazy. Haha.

Blahblah, so damn hot lately. Like 100 degrees, almost. So damn boring.

Well, it was my 21st birthday yesterday. I took a picture of the cake. It was still in the box when I did, haha. It was eaten immediately. Well I think there's still a little left. Anyway, it was really good.

I don't know why I assumed I'd have that Marilyn charcoal done so soon. Probably won't be done for a while. I'm lax in working on it since last post, haha. Well actually I did a bit more on it. I'm not sure if I mentioned it's being done on tinted paper. Well it is. I'm not sure whether I should add white heightening to it with white charcoal so I'll probably wait til I'm all done...take a photo of it before I do that in case I ruin it. lol

Well, thats a new charcoal of Marilyn I started. That looks really weird there, haha its not nearly done. The face isn't done either but I wanted to post something of it here. I think it's gonna come out pretty neat if I continue to take my time on it. I don't know when exactly it'll be all done; maybe on Monday.

I've been doing some more sketches on the comp, too. To print later and re-outline and paint by hand. I found some pictures of a particular model that look really cool; I'll probably do a coloured-pencil portrait of her. I have those two other commissions to start though haha I'll probably finish at least one of them before I start that.

And on thisismarilyn, I'm currently #5 on the leaderboard. LOL Well, I don't mind exactly which of the prizes I win, as long as I win something. Because they're all very nice, it doesn't matter which. I will have to try and keep this up until early August. I think I can. A few days ago I wasn't even in the leaderboard at all. So its hilarious.
If anybody wants to help me win, use this referral link to sign up. You don't even have to be a fan of Marilyn. Just do it. http://www.ThisIsMarilyn.com/index.php?referrer=eire

Happy 67th birthday to Paul McCartney. I found the dumbest picture to put here. lol. If only I was born 4 days sooner we coulda had the same birthday. Well, close enough.

Well I am going crazy uploading on ThisisMarilyn. Hahaha I really want to win a prize but I don't know if I will.
Also I finished all three of those commissions. Still waiting on payment from an old 40$ pair. Lena will bug them about it lol. And I got two more to do, 30$ each. I'm happy to have money haha and the ref pics they gave her are nice and big. So it should be easy.

Will get started tomorrow.

one hundred and eight

Was out walking today, took some more pictures. Got a nice one of the Cathedral. I was quite far away from it but it still came out looking pretty cool. Took some stupidass pictures outside too; I might do something with them later.

Later tonight I'll be finishing up a commission. The 30$ one; Lena told him it'll be done by Wednesday. There's actually not that much left to do. I want to start on maybe a watercolour painting of some sort; not sure. Nothing typical anyway...tired of that. Still tired of seeing straight-forward attempts at copying photos on drawings; don't wanna do that. That's not the kind of art that becomes well-liked anyway. It's more like mall art, haha. A lot of idiots are impressed by that though; I'm not. So I feel I need to be better with my art. I want to make my watercolours better; I saw some cool ones the other day. I think I need to make my watercolours look more like watercolour paintings, haha. I don't know; I need to use the medium for its more watery transparent effects, I think. At least in some spots. I really want to buy some tinted watercolour paper. I've never seen any anywhere. Also I need some more tinted papers...or at least better than the plain white shit paper I have know. Blended Graphite/Charcoal just does not stick to it very well.

I've also been doing some sketches on the computer. I have a lot of nice drawing programs like Open Canvas 4,Corel Painter IX, Manga Studio, and Photoshop but I've been doing the sketches in Microsoft Paint! LOL. It's just easier and gets it done quick. I've been wanting to do some oekaki lately but either the sites won't let me sign up or the stuff on them is just crap and I don't want to draw there with a bunch of 15yrold Narutards or whatnot.

I also want to improve on my colourisations. Most of the ones I've seen have been so-so or just plain shitty. But I saw some really nice ones the other day; made me feel like I could improve with what I'm doing. I coloured this one of Jean the other day :)

The original versus my colourised one.

Looks pretty neat, huh? lol

I took that photo near the overlook by the postoffice and stuffs. I don't think I posted it here but if I did, well here it is again. lol

Finished one commission. Well, its about 95% done, just needs touch ups. Which I probably won't do until I get her other request done. But today I'll start on a 30$ charcoal commission. It's going to be hard as the photo they gave me for a ref the kid's head is about the size of the pointy end of a pencil. Yeah, tiny. But it's a sort of clear photo so I can see details at least. If all else fails I'll just do a crazy make-em-up. Haha.

Another photo I took. It's a corny subject but I like it, haha. Especially the way the light came out!

So, tonight, drawing drawing drawing drawing. I might need to renew my sub on dA. Don't know if I really want to though since thumbnails are now for everyone, paid or not. Bah, who cares. I don't have anything suitable to submit there anyway. Still haven't thought of something new and different to draw, exactly. Need to get some more art books and look for inspiration there.

Took a crappy picture of those ones, at a slant angle. Oh well. Haha.
Still at work on another one. I'll probably finish it today. I hope.

I need to stop getting sidetracked.

one hundred and five

Well, I started work on one of the commissions. So. Incredibly. Boring.
It really drains the creativity in me to draw these things. I also feel that way about drawing the shit I usually do. I'm getting tired of just doing portraits of famous people. I know, its fun, but its sorta tiring to just keep on doing it. Even if I do change the picture/colours a lot. I am sick of seeing them, in my own work and others. So I don't know, last time I actually had fun drawing was the small painting I did based on the Marilyn pic with the scarf. Mainly because it was a portrait, but not an attempt at exact realism. I'm thinking of doing more like that. Portraits, but a different kind. And not all of stars. I am so sick of everything else.
I don't know, I need a big rest from drawing anything. But of course I have to do those commissions. So I'll just be working on those til they're done and try to figure out what to do with my "talent". And stop wasting it and do something more "original", though everything is already in some way unoriginal, haha. Been there, done that.

I gave in and made a Twitter account too. lol

Weeelll last night my mum gave me a haircut. To trim off the dyed ends really. The bleached hair was beginning to lose the black dye and look light. So it looked kinda dumb with my natural dark hair and the ends are going light again cos its all grown out. Anyway, she chopped about 3 inches of hair off. I think that was too much, rofl, 2 inches was enough. I am not comfortable with it though, I liked it longer. But there's nothing I can do now.
Other than hide, wear a hat, and never go outside again. lol

Oh yes, anyway, I was reading online and found out that Archie is going to marry Veronica. Whhaaat? rofl this is a stupid thing to write about. But srsly. Betty is better. She can marry Jughead now though. Hahaha.

"If I were creating the world I wouldn't mess about with butterflies and daffodils. I would have started with lasers, eight o'clock, Day One!"

Time Bandits was funny, but of course, I thought it would be. I thought it was a little too long; maybe 15 minutes could've been cut. Maybe a little less than that. But at least it all worked together. Michael Palin has always been great at playing some pathetic random weirdo. Haha and that's a good thing. John Cleese was great as Robin Hood in there, rofl. So falsely cheerful.

Kevin: I'd like to stay.
Robin Hood: Jolly good! What's your name?
Kevin: Ke... [Is pulled away by Randall]
Robin Hood: Ke? What a jolly nice name. Well never mind, cheerio! Thank you very much. Thank you very much. Thank you very, very, very much.
Robin Hood: [Under his breath] Awful people.

Anyway, it rained all day today. Odd drizzling. Got really cold out there too. Didn't start those commissions either. I will later. They are just really boring. Easy, but so boring. I think I've said that eleventy thousand times.

What is it with dumb sites like Twitter? Hahaha I would join but I think the concept of that is just too damn silly even for me. I don't really want my myspace anymore...mostly because all the people I used to talk to have died off or something. Well, not all, but most. And I can't remember who 80% of them are. But I bet if I really wanted to be friends I would have never forgotten who they were. Well whatever.lol

one hundred and one

I got the Time Bandits DVD rofl I can't wait to watch it. I don't know when I will, sometime today. Or maybe tomorrow as there is never anything to watch on Saturdays; at least during the day. I really like Terry Gilliam's stuff. A movie about time-traveling dwarfs was too good to pass up. lol.
Anyway, lately I been watching this show called the Fashion Show. It comes on Bravo TV network. They used to have Project Runway but I don't know what the hell happened to that show, rofl. Anywho, they gave Keith the boot and I was mad. I think he's a great designer; what were they thinking? Well I have no idea who will win that show; lots of the other designers are boring. And Keith is also very pretty. lol, well its true. I'd like to see Olivia in some of his designs; I think they'd be perfect for her.
I got up today to watch the French Open and I notice that its not even scheduled for our TV stations here. I mean, its the men semifinals! And they don't even show it on TV! I don't understand.

Also I am really glad Conan is back.

Lena got me yet another commission to do. This one for 30$. Another of someone kid, but this one isn't a baby at least. No more damn boring babies! ok, well at least babies are easy if boring. So once she gets the money for two I just finished, two more I have to do, and that newest one, it should be like 110$. I wish I could charge more but whatever. No one else has any money either and it'd be unfair to ask for more. At least for now anyway. Its just simple charcoal sketches.
But I want more because I wanted to buy some clothes XD. Dammit I never have money left over for anything. I need some more good paper, too. I barely make any and I don't know where it goes. I have nothing to show for it.

Here's a really cheap set I did for 40$ haha. It looks OK enough. The pictures they gave were really terrible to work with. Especially the bald baby. It was a blank-stare-mouth-agape photgraph XDD I changed the expression just a little bit, so it wouldn't look so damn dumb. It's still dumb but not too dumb. These two are particularly cartoonish, but they looked better that way, trust me.

I found a great picture of Marilyn to draw, and I'll probably work on both that and a commission. I need to draw a pic of River too. I don't know what mediums, I'm getting sick of charcoal. But I'll probably use that. lol

which classic male hollywood actor are you?

The classic rebel without a cause. An artistic loner who loves to dance with death
And I didn't even try to get him. Rofl well I wish there was more choices there. Someone needs to make a big comprehensive quiz. But not me.

Haha, well 100 posts in this thing! I'm surprised.

I finished those two commissions. Lena took them with her today. I wonder if they'll pay up today. Well it doesn't really matter right now. Also the same woman who requested 3 other drawings earlier now wants two more. She already gave Lena the pictures. Hahaha. So I'll start on those tomorrow I guess.

Happy birthday, Marilyn!
That's just a colourisation I did of Marilyn with the dummy Charlie. 8D Also this painting. I might put it on dA someday, dunno.

I also have some old hyde art I might put up. Not sure, I don't feel like updating.
Installing updates for MSN; so maybe now it'll work if I update it. I had to use webmessenger. And since its dial-up, its taking so long.

Gah, I'm really hungry right now. So I'm gonna go find something to eat.
